State Department continues to consider Cuba a State Sponsor of Terror.
Last week, the State Department released a statement from Secretary Antony Blinken listing nations that “are not cooperating fully with United States antiterrorism efforts.” Among those on the State Department list was the island nation of Cuba, which was added in 2020 during the previous administration.
The United States takes a tougher approach with countries that are on this list. Cuba’s inclusion was due to a “review of a country’s overall level of cooperation in our efforts to fight terrorism,” according to a State Department representative. President Biden had stated during his campaign that he would like to continue the efforts of President Obama’s easing of restrictions on Cuba, but this most recent statement raises questions regarding if and when those changes could take place.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president to seek God’s wisdom regarding the relationship between the U.S. and Cuba.
- For the State Department as they work with foreign nations to maintain peace with America.
- For the Lord to help Secretary Blinken lead the State Department effectively.
